At Specialist Event Medical, all our staff are trained to national standards including registration with professional bodies where required.
Our clinicians are all experienced event professionals. We know the profile of injury and illness is different at an event than on a frontline ambulance and our practitioners are trained to reflect this.
We are able to provide clinicians with mountaineering and remote areas experience, available to assist you with your next expedition or remote sporting challenge.
Our services are overseen by a team of healthcare professionals with extensive backgrounds in event medicine, emergency planning and leadership. Our clinical governance strategy underpins our operations, from first customer contact through to post event meetings.
At Specialist Event Medical we provide event medicine, never first aid. Our clinicians are experienced healthcare professionals, supported by highly trained auxiliary health workers. Where first aiders offered by other providers may only have a few days training, our clinicians have years.
All our event teams are equipped with a full range of emergency medications, the same as would be found on a frontline ambulance. From minor allergic reactions and asthma attacks through to maternity emergencies and major trauma, our clinicians are able to provide definitive care on site utilising an extensive formulary.
We provide NHS trained staff for every event we cover. From emergency care assistants through to critical care paramedics and PHEM doctors, our staff are all trained to national standards, and hold concurrent employment with NHS acute trusts - we never deploy first aiders, 'first responders' or 'FRECs'. We believe when an event organiser pays for 'medical cover', they should expect medical professionals.
Our clinicians are trained to undertake a variety of clinical assessments and interventions including, but not limited to, ECG interpretation, physical examination, otoscopy and fundoscopy, urinalysis, advanced life support, sedation, fracture reduction, lifesaving interventions in major trauma and the closure of minor wounds with glue/sutures.
We are able to refer patients to further care including direct liaison with GP's, hospital specialists, urgent care centres and community teams.
Our medical teams are supported by an experienced team of command and control staff from ambulance service and policing backgrounds. Our digital CAD system, radio network and JESIP trained dispatchers enable us to liaise with event safety staff, triage requests for medical assistance and allocate the right resources to the right patient; ensuring a low fuss and professional response to emergencies across the event site.
As auxiliary healthcare workers, ECA's provide clinical support to EMT's, Nurses, Paramedics and Doctors.
All our ECA's are trained in the use of medical gases and can administer a range of over the counter medications.
As autonomous, non-registered healthcare professionals, EMT's provide clinical care to lower acuity patients as well as supporting Nurses, Paramedics and Doctors with higher acuity presentations.
All our EMT's are trained to administer a select range of lifesaving emergency medications and undertake Immediate Life Support.
As registered healthcare professionals, ambulance nurses provide advanced clinical leadership and decision making.
